Kambo and Peptides

The Kambo medicine contains a unique cocktail of bioactive peptides that offer a wide range of therapeutic benefits. These peptides contribute to Kambo’s potent healing properties by acting on various physiological systems in the body.

Peptides are short chains of amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins. They are incredibly versatile and beneficial molecules that support a wide range of physiological functions.

Kambo’s unique blend of bioactive peptides offers a comprehensive approach to healing, addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual health. These peptides work synergistically to promote cell signalling, tissue repair, immune function, neurotransmission, hormone regulation, metabolism, anti-inflammatory effects, antioxidant protection, detoxification, and specific therapeutic applications. By harnessing the power of these peptides, Kambo provides a profound and holistic healing experience, deeply rooted in the wisdom of indigenous Amazonian traditions

The Benefits of Kambo Peptides

Cell Signalling and Communication

Kambo peptides play a crucial role in cell signalling, helping to regulate and coordinate various bodily functions. These peptides can bind to receptors on the surface of cells, triggering specific cellular responses that promote healing and well-being.

  • Phyllomedusin: This peptide acts as a powerful vasodilator, improving blood flow and enhancing the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to tissues.

Tissue Repair and Regeneration

Kambo peptides promote the repair and regeneration of tissues, making them beneficial for physical healing and recovery.

  •   Phyllokinin and Phyllomedusin: These peptides help to dilate blood vessels, improving circulation and supporting the repair of damaged tissues.

Immune Function

The peptides in Kambo can boost immune function, helping the body to fight off infections and maintain overall health.

  • Dermaseptin: This peptide has antimicrobial properties, helping to protect the body from bacterial, viral, and fungal infections.

Neurotransmission and Mood Regulation

Kambo peptides influence the nervous system, affecting neurotransmission and mood regulation.

  • Dermorphin and Deltorphin: These peptides are potent opioid receptor agonists, providing pain relief and promoting a sense of well-being. They can help to alleviate depression and anxiety by enhancing mood and reducing stress.

Hormone Regulation

Certain Kambo peptides can influence hormone levels, supporting metabolic and endocrine health.

  • Caerulein: This peptide stimulates the release of digestive enzymes and smooth muscle contraction, aiding in digestion and detoxification.

Metabolism and Appetite Control

Kambo peptides can help to regulate metabolism and appetite, contributing to overall metabolic health.

  • Sauvagine: This peptide can modulate the body’s stress response, helping to balance cortisol levels and support metabolic function.

Anti-Inflammatory Properties

Many Kambo peptides exhibit anti-inflammatory effects, helping to reduce inflammation and manage chronic inflammatory conditions.

  • Phyllokinin: This peptide not only acts as a vasodilator but also has anti-inflammatory properties, helping to reduce inflammation in the body.

Antioxidant Effects

Some Kambo peptides have antioxidant properties, protecting cells from oxidative damage and promoting longevity.

  • Antioxidant Peptides: These peptides help to neutralize free radicals, reducing oxidative stress and preventing cellular damage.

Detoxification and Cleansing

Kambo peptides support the body’s natural detoxification processes, helping to eliminate toxins and cleanse the body.

  • Multiple Peptides: The synergistic action of various peptides in Kambo promotes detoxification, enhancing liver function and aiding in the removal of metabolic waste.

Specific Therapeutic Applications

Kambo peptides have been studied for their potential therapeutic applications, offering new avenues for medical treatment.

  • Dermaseptin and Adenoregulin: These peptides are being researched for their potential to treat infections and cancer due to their antimicrobial and cytotoxic properties.

How It Works

Typically, Kambo is administered in ceremonial setting. A practitioner prepares the skin by burning small, superficial points, referred to as “gates,” using a stick or incense. The Kambo secretion is applied to the gates in quick succession, allowing it to enter the lymphatic system directly.

Participants are required to drink approx. 1.5 litres of water prior to the medicine application to hydrate and assist with the facilitation of a purgative response.

The effects of Kambo are typically felt within minutes and can include an increased heart rate, a feeling of heat in the body, and typically induces a purgative process, which can involve vomiting, sweating, and other forms of detoxification and nervous system responses such as yawning, crying, sighing or shaking.

After the initial effects subside and the medicine is removed from the gates, participants often experience a period of rest and recovery, followed by a feeling of clarity, rejuvenation, and well-being.

Traditionally Kambo is known as a surrender medicine because a key aspect of the healing process with Kambo is the willingness to surrender and trust the medicine. Participants are encouraged to relinquish control and allow Kambo to work intuitively. This act of surrender can feel challenging, especially when facing the intense physical and emotional purging that can accompany traditional Kambo sessions.

Part of the healing power of Kambo comes from sitting with and embracing the difficult processes it initiates. The purging, sweating, and emotional release are not seen as mere side effects but as integral parts of the healing journey. By confronting and moving through discomfort, individuals can release deep-seated toxins and emotional blockages.

Kambo’s purgative effects are believed to cleanse the body not just of physical impurities but also of negative energies and emotional baggage. This deep cleansing is seen as a rebirth, a way to shed old patterns and emerge renewed.

Although incredibly powerful, the traditional method is not for everyone. In recent years there have been adaptations in application, to better suit some individual’s needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Kambo safe?

Kambo is a natural medicine, but it’s important to work with a trained practitioner to ensure safety and proper application. We conduct thorough health assessments before each session to ensure it’s right for you.

What should I expect during a Kambo session?

You will receive the medicine through small gates on your skin. Afterward, you may experience purging (vomiting), which is a natural and beneficial part of the cleansing process.

Why is Kambo called the Vaccine of the forest?

Kambo will boost the body’s bioactive and neuroactive peptides and works as a natural antioxidant, antimicrobial, antibiotic, and antihypertensive, making it a great way to cleanse the mind and body and strengthen the immune system. This is why it is sometimes referred to as the vaccine of the forest.

How many gates do I need?

The number of gates required varies based on your individual situation. We will discuss this during your consultation. A test gate is placed initially to ensure no adverse reactions, and then typically followed by three gates in the first session. This can be adjusted according to your specific needs and relative to any prior experience with Kambo.

How long does a Kambo treatment last?

This will depend on which method of application you opt for. The traditional method is purgative and typically lasts 20-40 minutes with rest time after. Whereas the application for trauma informed or peptide power is a much slower process. Relative to the method of application, the entire session can take between 2-4 hours.

How often should I do Kambo?

Frequency depends on individual needs and goals. Some people do Kambo sessions regularly, while others may choose to do them as needed for specific health concerns.

Can Kambo help with emotional healing?

Yes, Kambo is known to support emotional release and healing by clearing blocked energy and helping you process difficult emotions.

Will I need to receive subsequent Kambo treatments?

The requirement for subsequent Kambo sessions depends on the initial protocol you opt for and your individual personal needs and health status. A maintenance schedule, ranging from every 1 to 4 months but usually not exceeding one year, can be arranged if required and is based on individual circumstances.

Does Kambo scar?

Providing the gates are sealed well and kept clean, they scab and heal and typically disappear within 2-3 weeks. Some faint marks do remain on the skin but there are variables due to skin age, colour and elasticity and where the gates are located on the body. Some individuals may have longer-lasting marks and others, nothing noticeable.

Is Kambo a psychedelic or hallucinogenic substance?

No.
